Final conference on the project implemented with the support of the UNESCO Almaty office

March 17, 2021, The final conference on the project “Development of an online curriculum for updating intersectoral competencies for sustainable development in Kyrgyzstan”, organized by the Agency for Quality Assurance in Education “EdNet” together with the UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office for Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, was held. The project is implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic with the support of UNESCO Almaty and funding from the Government of Estonia.

                    The conference was held in a hybrid format (online and offline), which was attended by the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Estonian Republic to the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Turkmenistan, Director of the UNESCO Cluster Office for Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan (UNESCO Almaty), director of the Republican Institute for Advanced Studies and Retraining of Pedagogical Workers under the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic (RIKPR under the Ministry of Education and Science), directors and teachers of pilot schools of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as project experts and trainers.

                    The results of piloting 5 modules in 15 schools in the Kyrgyz Republic were presented at the conference. The modules were aimed at developing the competencies of the 21st century among students in grades 5-6 using ICT in the following areas:

  • Demography and Migration - "How do equality and justice affect people's lives?"
  • Healthy lifestyle - "How do my habits affect my health?"
  • Global Citizenship - "What do the peoples of the world have in common and different?"
  • Media and Information Literacy - "How does information affect my life?"
  • Ecology - "How is human life related to the environment?"

                    And also during the conference, the winners of the competition "Best practice in implementing education for sustainable development" were awarded, who received laptops and certificates. In addition, ESD certificates and badges were awarded to all teachers and students who participated in the project.


                    At the end of the conference, all participants took a group photo.
