EdNet Rankings — A Step Toward International Standards of Quality Education

NEWS

The EdNet Agency for Quality Assurance in Education announces the launch of two major ranking initiatives for the 2025–2026 academic year:

• The Second National University Ranking of the Kyrgyz Republic — 2026
• The Second Ranking of Private Schools in Bishkek — 2026

The first EdNet rankings demonstrated the importance of establishing a sustainable system of independent quality assessment. Their outcomes helped identify the strengths of the national education system, outline key directions for development, and enhance public trust in educational institutions.

📣 EdNet invites universities across Kyrgyzstan and private schools in Bishkek to participate in these rankings — to jointly build a strong national quality assurance system and strengthen the international standing of Kyrgyz education.

The ranking methodology is based on internationally recognized approaches applied in global systems such as QS, ARWU, and Times Higher Education (THE). This alignment makes the national rankings comparable with global standards and helps prepare domestic universities for participation in international academic evaluations, showcasing the best Kyrgyz practices and achievements.

👉 In the context of advancing toward international quality standards, it is essential to consider the outcomes of global university rankings. Recently, the British journal Times Higher Education (THE) published the World University Rankings 2026, featuring 2,191 universities from 115 countries worldwide.

As in previous years, universities from the United Kingdom and the United States continue to hold the leading positions. The only post-Soviet university included in the top 200 is Lomonosov Moscow State University.

Top 10 Universities in the World 2026:

  • University of Oxford

  • Massachusetts Institute of Technology

  • Princeton University 🇺🇸 and University of Cambridge

  • Harvard University 🇺🇸 and Stanford University

  • California Institute of Technology

  • Imperial College London

  • University of California, Berkeley

  • Yale University

The THE ranking evaluates universities across key indicators, including teaching quality, research performance, citation impact, international outlook, and innovation.

✨ The EdNet Agency aims to see Kyrgyz universities enhance their internal quality mechanisms and data transparency — to earn higher positions in global academic rankings and strengthen Kyrgyzstan’s image as a country of modern, competitive, and forward-looking education.
